Licence Plate

Licence plate, number plate, license plate or vehicle registration plate – it doesn’t matter how you say or spell it, they all mean the same thing and all require adequate lighting for viewing at night. Many taillights have a clear section at the bottom which allows it to also act as a licence plate light, when mounted above the number plate. However if your taillight does not have an integrated light or it cannot be used due to the mounting position, then you will need a separate way of illuminating the number plate.

There are two main alternatives: licence plate mounting bolts with integrated LEDs which will light up the number plate, or a separate light usually mounted above the number plate. A third route is to use a licence plate mount (either side or rear) with a built in number plate light, linked to the bike’s wiring system.
